Because the hardness, density and specific weight of Cellular Rubber 489 are higher than most types of EPDM cellular rubber, it can be used to create seals that have to withstand more pressure. These types of seals can be resistant to water, air and dust and will mainly be found at parallel joints. If it is used as a sealing tape, the material will be very durable and therefore last a long time. In addition, it is often used in gaskets and seals, for example in mechanical engineering. It is extremely suitable for this because the material has good mechanical properties. Finally, the material has good sound-insulating and shock-absorbing properties, which means it can be used as a shock absorber and spacer.
Cellular Rubber 489 is a black EPDM cellular rubber with a hardness of 60 shore 00, which is comparable to a hardness of 25 shore A. This cellular rubber is therefore somewhat harder and has a higher specific weight. Like most other types of cellular rubber, this 25 shore A rubber has a closed cell structure. This makes the material water-resistant and waterproof.
The raw material EPDM is known for its weather-resistant properties. The black EPDM cellular rubber is therefore very resistant to UV radiation and ozone. That is why it is not only used indoors, but especially for outdoor applications. The material is very resistant to aging, which makes it a sustainable solution for your application.
At the top of the page you will find an overview of all the sizes we supply. Other sizes available on request. The Cell Rubber 489 is also available per roll.
